Review: Nailtiques

I was sent a Nailtiques set to review. And,I won’t lie. I usually don’t paint my nails such bright colors. Or, paint my nails in general. However, I just HAD to try Nailtiques Rio lacquer. It’s such a pretty pink color. Now, I have always had decently brittle nails. However, with age and a thyroid issue my nails have started to peel. When I say peel, I mean there are days where all my nails are thin looking, almost see thru and just peel like dry skin. In the set they sent me was a special bottle of polish that actually ended up being their Formula 2, which is a nail protein that is supposed to help with soft, peeling, split, or nails that just don’t grow. My first impression of the Formula 2: It’s flipping fantastic. It made my nails feel a little oily, but they instantly have this healthy shine to them.

Here is a little bit of information about Nailtiques:

These are my results.

After I applied the lacquer, I had to touch up the spots that I either missed or messed up. (I don’t have a very steady right hand, as I am a lefty). I would definitely use this polish all the time. It’s super cute. My 2 (almost 3) year old loved it. Her new favorite color might just be pink. It is also well worth the $20 price tag. Their polish, once applied and dried, didn’t chip or peel.

Review: Junkie Cosmetics

Junkie Cosmetics was created by two makeup junkies, Kara and Camie. They started with lip gloss but, are currently working on eye shadow, lipstick, and blush.

I recently had the chance to review two of Junkie Cosmetics lip glosses: Drama Queen and Trophy Wife. I’d like to start by saying I absolutely love the names they have given to their lip glosses. Sexpot and Sociallite are just two of their other awesome names. There are many many more. During my review of Junkie Cosmetics lip glosses I took many different things in consideration. Some of those things being cost, texture, and color. I will start by saying these lip glosses are fantastic. They are well worth their price. I got the chance to test them out while at a cousins wedding. The color lasted hours. It went on super smooth. And, like most lip glosses it wasn’t sticky or goopy.

I won’t lie. I am pretty pale, so when I tried Drama Queen I was a little worried it would be too red. (Surprise, it wasn’t!). Junkie Cosmetics gets an A+ from EverythingFourEyes, formally known as TresChicCoincidence. Check them out on Twitter and Facebook. By the way, they are animal cruelty free.

Interview with Alternative Model Rachel Dashae

Meet the lovely Rachel Dashae:

I recently had the honor of doing an email interview with Rachel. I asked her a series of questions with a curve ball at the end. :p

Where are you from? I was born in a tiny town in Louisiana. Mostly raised in the small city of Richmond, VA.
How did you get into modeling? I was in highschool and taking photography classes. I started taking self portraits and posting them on myspace and deviantart. I started to get contacted by photographers , and when I turned 18 I had a shoot or two. Then I made a model mayhem account, and my life totally changed! For the best.
What is the hardest part about your industry? I think getting noticed by the right people. There are so many girls doing the exact same thing as you, you have to work harder and more.
What piece of work are you most proud of? I really think the native american series I did with Mojokiss (Matt Mayes.)
Who is your role model? My mother. That sounds lame, but it’s true. I didn’t ever believe in seeing celebrities as role models, because then you become too much like them. But my mom is amazing, brought me into this world and always made sure I had everything I needed. She’s the best.
What are 5 things you cannot live without? My family. Coconut ice cream (haha.) I guess the internet (which sounds sssoooo lame.) Sushi. A nice soft comfy pillow.
What is your motto or life advice that you live by? Do whatever makes you happy. Seriously. And this is kind of silly, but Lady Gaga has a quote that I like a lot: “Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore.”
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Really? I want to be happy and fulfilled with my life. Maybe in school. I’d also be happy being married, with kids. Boring? Yup. Haha.
Do you have any unusual talents? Not really. I can spread my toes really far apart, is that a talent? haha.
Any last advice for up and coming models? Be professional. Don’t let anyone keep you down. Be nice, be on time, take care of yourself!
What’s your favorite video game/ video game character? Oh gosh. I haven’t had much time to play videos games lately.
And, I saw this tattoo. It has an uncanny resemblence to you. Do you consider it flattering that your face may or may not be tattooed on someone… or a little strange?I love tattoos, and I love the fact that I’ve inspired people. I have also done my deed of scarring some people forever. ;D haha.

Btw, this is the tattoo I was referring too:

idrawzombies.com

I found this fantastic website, idrawzombies.com, while perusing the good old internet. I couldn’t get over how awesome his, Byron Rempel’s, drawings are. He’s currently working on the 1000 Zombies Project.

Here is some information on Mr. Byron’s 1000 Zombies Project taken from his website:

What is 1000 Zombies?

The 1000 zombies project is, as the name implies, an art project of 1000 zombies based on people, famous, fictional or otherwise, and possibly even a pet or two. But it’s also a little bit more than that. It’s an art project solely funded and guided by the Google PLUS community.

How are the subjects selected for ZOMBIFICATION?

This is the one of the most important roles you, the public, play in this art project. While all the zombies are drawn by me, they are chosen by you. Perhaps you want to see your boss as a zombie, or your ex-wife, a famous celebrity, dead president, muppet, pet, neighbor, your kids, or even yourself.

What’s in it for me?

For every zombie you fund and create, you will get a high resolution scan emailed to you to print out, hang on your wall, create your own personal tshirt with, or put it on a coffee mug. The only thing you can’t do is sell products with that image on it. Work is underway to offer other bonuses, like draws for other zombie related prizes, but nothing is solid yet. This is going to be a constantly evolving art project, so stay tuned.

What is the money used for?

All funds will be going towards buying the paper, pens and paint to create 1000 zombies as well as the materials to frame and showcase the horde. Since I will not be taking any extra commissions until this project is complete, the funds also go towards allowing me to keep living, creating, and by fortunate default, feeding my family.
You can find more of his awesome work and sense of humor on his website.
